About
Augustiner Zur Schranke is a culinary gem nestled in the heart of Nuremberg, specifically located at Beim Tiergärtnertor 3. This establishment invites you to experience the rich flavors of traditional German cuisine, all while basking in the charm of its beautiful outdoor seating. The ambiance, enhanced by waitstaff dressed in playful lederhosen, sets the stage for a delightful dining experience.
As you step inside, the aromas of authentic dishes waft through the air, promising a feast for your senses. Customers consistently rave about the standout offerings here. Cathy Morris’s glowing endorsement of the pork shoulder, paired with spinach dumplings and sausages, speaks to the kitchen's skill in delivering creamy, comforting dishes that are simply excellent. Similarly, Michelle Sh lauds the freshness of their salads, particularly the salad with schnitzel, a reminder of the delightful balance that traditional German fare can achieve.
For those who may encounter a bustling crowd, like Bernd Biege did, rest assured that the quality of service at Augustiner Zur Schranke remains unwavering. His recommendation of the Fränkische Bratwurst highlights the importance of savoring local specialties, which are cooked to perfection here, bringing the authentic taste of the region straight to your plate. And if you’re seeking a unique way to enjoy classic Nuremberg sausages, M enthusiastically suggests trying them grilled or boiled—each preparation offering a different take on a celebrated dish.
While the prices may be slightly elevated in this tourist-friendly area, the overall dining experience—with friends or family—certainly justifies it. Wash down your meal with one of their delectable German beers, ideally a refreshing Weissbier, as you take in the vibrant surroundings. And don't forget to indulge your sweet tooth with the Kaiserschmarrn—a sweet treat beloved even by the Holy Roman Emperor!
Whether you are a local or just visiting, a meal at Augustiner Zur Schranke is an essential part of the Nuremberg experience. Embrace the warm charm, the delicious food, and the company of good friends at this remarkable dining spot.
“ Everything about our experience here was perfect. The food was excellent. The service was really good too. If I was in Nuremberg again I would definitely go back here. ”
“ Probably an institution in Nürnberg If you want great views of the castle and some of the best bratwurst sausages in the area. Just as good today as it was 30 years ago! Highly recommend. ”
“ Enjoy a cold beer and some traditional Frankonian dishes in the shadow of the medieval fortress of Nürenberg. If you have a sweet tooth give the Kaiserschmarrn a taste. It is said that the holy Roman emperor (Kaiser) enjoyed it vastly as well. ”
“ Authentic traditional German food. We had the Salad with Schnitzel, Sausage plate, watermelon salad and kids schnitzel, everything was so delicious!! Salads were very fresh. ”
“ We stopped here for a bite after a long day of exploring Nuremberg. We had pork shoulder, spinach dumplings and sausages, Everything was excellent! Beautiful outdoor seating. The wait staff wear fun lederhosen. Five stars! ”
“ Had a nice time here catching up with friends. More of quiet part of Nuremberg city Center but it was still popular at meal times. There was only outdoor seating left for us during dinner time in winter but it’s fine as the good company of good friends made it warm enough. There’s many popular german dishes. Must try of course the Nuremberg sausages. They have one option for many styles of these sausages- grilled, boiled etc, good way to try. Of course wash everything down with delectable German beer. My fave is Weiss bier. A bit more pricey for touristy area as compared to maybe like your neighborhood pub but it’s not overly priced. ”
“ Visited on a busy day, around midday, had to hunt for a table (finally sharing one with an Italian family) ... but I cannot fault the service quality and speed. Okay, the latter might have been helped by us ordering standard fare (the Fränkische Bratwurst is recommended), more exotic dishes seemed to take a bit longer. Very tasty meal, mid-sized portion (just right, as Goldilocks might say), and priced in the medium range. ”
